First Setup Steps for a New Store in Egypt

Six steps that take under an hour: profile, payments, delivery, one product, legal pages, test order.

Launch basics

Your store is created. Less than an hour stands between you and a real order, and most people waste it hunting for settings that do not exist.

Your prices are already in EGP and there is nowhere to pick a currency. What gates your launch is how customers pay, how parcels move, and one finished product. Storix has a checklist for it: Launch your store at /admin/getting-started. Each item shows Done, Action needed or Blocked, and opens the right screen.

Step 1 — Store profile

In Design → Profile:

  • Store profile: the Store name, and pick the Store time zone yourself. Leave it on Platform default and the step never completes.
  • Legal & Verification: legal entity name, commercial registration number, tax ID, responsible person and the customer support phone.
  • Search visibility: Street address, City and Governorate or region — also your pickup address.

Wallet top-ups and subscription charges are in EGP too.

Step 2 — How customers pay

Open Customer payments → Customer payment methods, headed Customer collection methods.

  1. Find Cash on delivery, click Add & configure, switch it on. No receiving details needed.
  2. Add one prepaid option. A wallet, InstaPay or bank transfer needs a Receiver first: your number, InstaPay address or account.
  3. Cards are coming soon and cannot be enabled during the pilot, whatever your plan.

Money from InstaPay or a bank transfer lands in your own account, not inside Storix. The order waits in Customer payment reconciliation until you approve the proof.

Step 3 — Delivery by governorate

In Shipping → Delivery methods, click Configure.

  • Under Areas & pricing, click Apply Egypt presets: one area per governorate, all 27, flat fee 35.
  • Give every area Min days and Max days. Upper Egypt needs a longer, honest window than Cairo.
  • In the COD step set the Base fee — No extra fee, Fixed amount (EGP) or Percent of shipping — and add Governorate overrides where an area costs more.

Read this before launching on Starter. Checkout ignores area pricing rules there, so methods get no price and never appear. To sell now, you need a plan above Starter.

Storix knows Bosta, plus your own Custom delivery and click and collect. Egypt Post is not an integration. Scheduled pickups are Bosta only, and Pickups does not load on Starter.

Step 4 — One complete product

One finished product beats twenty drafts. In Products → Catalog click Add product. Fill the Product name, a Category and a short description. Set Price, Cost and Available stock — Cost is what lets Storix show your real margin. Upload a photo and leave Show on store on.

Step 5 — Language and legal pages

In Storefront Studio choose the Default customer language and press Save draft. The draft alone completes the step.

Then open Design → Custom pages. Every store starts with Privacy policy, Terms of service and Refund policy. Each goes public only after you replace the starter text, fill both languages and press Mark reviewed and publish.

Step 6 — A test order

Buy from your own store on a phone, with cash on delivery. Check the total, the shipping fee and the COD fee, that the order lands in Orders, and that the notification reaches you. Then cancel it, which releases the reserved stock. Spend nothing on ads until this run is clean.

Two things to know early

  • Custom domain comes with every plan.
  • Renewals come out of your wallet. If it cannot cover one, the store moves to Pay-as-you-go, or the subscription becomes Suspended and the storefront pauses. The Subscription page then offers Retry billing now and Top up wallet.

These first setup steps take under an hour. Create your store and start with the profile.
