Customer payments and the Storix wallet: what each pays

Buyer money and platform balance are two separate pots. Here is what each one covers and what to check daily.

Launch basics

Your store has two pots of money, and mixing them up is the most common confusion new merchants have. One is what your buyer hands over. The other is the balance Storix takes your subscription from.

The two never touch. Buyer money does not land in your Storix wallet, and the wallet does not pay your suppliers. Once you see what customer payments and the Storix wallet each pay for, the finance screens make sense.

Pot one: what your buyer pays at checkout

Open Customer payments → Customer payment methods, headed Customer collection methods. The groups are Cards and gateways, Wallets, Bank transfer, Cash on delivery and Other methods.

  • Cash on delivery. Needs no receiving details. Still how most first-time Egyptian buyers pay.
  • Bank transfer and InstaPay. You enter your account or InstaPay address as the Receiver; the buyer pays you directly.
  • Wallets. Vodafone Cash, Orange Money and Etisalat Cash (e& Cash) carry the note Requires PSP agreement.
  • Cards and Fawry. Grouped with gateways under Cards and gateways, but they are coming soon and cannot be enabled during the pilot, whatever your plan. Shoppers pay by cash on delivery, wallets or bank transfer instead.

Each card shows its status: Active, Ready, Needs setup or Upgrade required. While your storefront is live, at least one ready method must stay on.

Transfers wait for you

A transfer or wallet payment does not confirm itself. If the method requires proof, the payment waits in Customer payment reconciliation until you approve the proof or confirm a manual match.

InstaPay is fast for the buyer, not for you: the money reaches your bank account, but the order stays unconfirmed until someone looks. Only switch on a method you will check every day.

Instalments are a display, not a payment method

You will see valU, Sympl, Aman, Tabby and Tamara around instalments. Storix shows an instalment plate on the product page, such as "from 250 EGP a month", over 2 to 24 months, with optional display interest and a minimum and maximum basket.

Storix never processes the instalment itself. The customer still pays by one of the real methods above. Treat the plate as a price display, not a checkout option.

Pot two: the Storix wallet

Open Wallet & Billing → Balance, headed Wallet. This balance pays Storix, not your customers. It covers platform charges: your subscription and add-ons.

  • On renewal date, Storix takes the plan price plus any installed apps from this wallet.
  • Only the store owner can recharge. Other staff see the balance and the history.
  • Top-ups are in EGP only.
  • Top-up methods come from the Storix billing setup: the Storix card simulator on test environments, and Stripe card checkout on live ones. You cannot top up with InstaPay, Vodafone Cash or Fawry — those are customer methods.

Storix does not sell advertising, so nothing here is ad spend.

When the wallet runs short

The Upcoming charge card on Wallet & Billing → Subscription warns you early: You're all set, or Top up to avoid interruption with a Top up wallet button.

If a renewal fails, the store moves to the Pay-as-you-go plan, or the subscription becomes Suspended and your storefront is paused. The page then offers Retry billing now and Top up wallet. Check your balance a week before renewal.

A simple routine for your first month

  1. Turn on cash on delivery plus one transfer or wallet method.
  2. Open Customer payment reconciliation daily and clear the waiting proofs.
  3. Keep enough balance for the next renewal and any installed app.
  4. Before a season, top up early. Every extra method is one more line to reconcile.

Turn on cash on delivery and one transfer method before your first campaign - start your store on Storix.
