Warehouse stock control that stops overselling in Egypt

Keep On hand, Reserved and Sold honest across your warehouses, hold cart stock at checkout, and return refused cash-on-delivery parcels to the shelf the safe way.

Launch basics

Overselling is the fastest way to lose a customer you paid to win: you take the order, then find the last piece left the shelf yesterday. Good warehouse stock control stops that.

It all happens on three screens: Products → Warehouses, Inventory, and Shipping → Returns.

1 — Add your first warehouse

Open Products → Warehouses → Add warehouse. Only Name is required; type, address, country and city are optional. Your first warehouse always becomes the default.

Your plan sets how many: 2 on Starter and pay-as-you-go, 5 on Growth, 20 on Pro. At the limit, Add warehouse is greyed out.

One is enough to start — a spare room in Nasr City counts. Add a second only when goods sit in two places.

2 — Put the units where they belong

Stock is counted per variant, per warehouse — never per product.

  • No options: the number in Available goes to your default warehouse.
  • With options such as size or colour: open Variant details and fill Stock per warehouse.
  • Later, fix numbers on Products → Inventory with Add inventory or Edit.

3 — Read the three numbers

Every row on Products → Inventory is one variant in one warehouse:

  • On hand — units sitting in that warehouse now.
  • Reserved — units held, not free to sell or move. Live carts count here.
  • Sold — units in paid orders, all warehouses.

Free units are On hand minus Reserved. That is all a transfer can move.

4 — Stop the double sale

Two shoppers can hold the same last piece at once. The fix: Design → Profile → Inventory, turn on Enable cart stock reservations, set a Reservation timeout between 1 and 10,080 minutes (7 days). Units are released when the timer ends or the order is placed.

Thirty to sixty minutes suits most COD stores.

5 — Catch low stock before zero

Storix marks a variant Low when its total across all warehouses, minus live carts, falls to its threshold: the Alert threshold; if empty, the highest Reorder point you set; if neither, 5.

Set it by hand on fast movers: 5 is far too late for an item selling ten a day. If your plan includes low-stock alerts, your team is notified too.

6 — Stock transfers are coming soon

Products → Transfers is not available yet in the pilot. When it ships, it will move units between your warehouses without changing your total stock, only its location. Until then, fix a warehouse's numbers directly on Products → Inventory with Add inventory or Edit.

When a cash-on-delivery parcel comes back

A refused parcel left your shelf but was never sold, and that gap is where numbers go wrong. Treat goods with the courier as unavailable until they come back:

  1. Wait until the box is in your hands, not still in the van.
  2. Check it. Only pieces you can sell again go back on the shelf.
  3. On Shipping → Returns, move the request from Pending to Awaiting receipt to Received. You can only refund a Received request. On Starter this page does not load.
  4. Match the money on Shipping → COD settlements: one row per delivered COD order, marked Pending settlement, Settled, Discrepancy or Written off, with Aging buckets of 0-2, 3-7, 8-14 and 15+ days. Also empty on Starter.

Storix connects Bosta, and your own riders can run as a custom delivery method.

Your weekly fifteen minutes

  • Restock everything marked Low on Products → Inventory.
  • Count your ten best sellers by hand against On hand.
  • Clear Awaiting receipt returns that have arrived.
  • Settle last week's COD settlements rows with the carrier's reference.
