Stock transfers: moving inventory between warehouses

The Transfers screen under Products moves tracked stock between your warehouses with one wizard and keeps a filterable history. Coming soon during the pilot.

Operations

Running more than one warehouse means stock sometimes sits in the wrong place: the last units of a fast seller are in the Alexandria back room while Cairo shoppers see "out of stock". Storix is adding a Transfers screen under Products («المنتجات ← تحويلات المخزون») to fix exactly that, and this lesson explains how it will work. The feature is marked coming soon in the pilot sidebar, so treat this as the rehearsal for when it opens.

A transfer in Storix is a deliberate, immediate move of tracked inventory from one warehouse to another — not a multi-stage shipment with its own tracking lifecycle. When the screen opens, you will open the move wizard, pick the product variant, choose the source warehouse and the destination warehouse, enter the quantity, and confirm. Storix then applies the move atomically: the units leave the source and arrive at the destination in the same operation, so the total stock across warehouses never changes and no quantity disappears in transit inside your own books.

What the wizard checks before moving

The move only sees available stock: on-hand quantity minus whatever is already reserved for open orders. If you try to move ten units while seven are reserved for shipments being packed, the wizard refuses the move rather than silently breaking those orders. The quantity counters update under a row lock, so two admins moving stock at the same time cannot overdraw the same shelf — one move simply waits for the other.

The history list is your audit trail

Every completed move lands in the transfer history: who moved it, when, which variant, from which warehouse to which warehouse, and how many units. Filters let you narrow by product or by warehouse when you are chasing a discrepancy. Because each row is an atomic move, the history reads as a clean ledger — there are no "in transit" rows to interpret, which is exactly what you want when reconciling a cycle count at month end.

Until it opens

While the badge says coming soon, keep cross-warehouse moves to your own notebook: record the variant, the two warehouses and the quantity, and apply them as two stock adjustments when the screen ships so the history stays complete. Watch the sidebar badge — when it drops, the wizard is live.
