Issuing and managing digital gift cards

Create gift cards with a starting balance and expiry, issue them behind a money step-up confirmation, and let shoppers redeem the balance at checkout.

Growth

Gift cards are quiet revenue: the buyer pays you today, and the recipient shops later — sometimes for more than the card's value, sometimes never spending it at all. The screen for issuing and managing digital gift cards, under Marketing («بطاقات الهدايا»), manages the whole life of a card: creation, issuing, balances, expiry and reactivation.

Creating a card sets its initial balance in pounds and an optional expiry date. Every card carries a status chip so you can see at a glance whether it is active, spent or expired — and an expired card stops working at checkout automatically, with no nightly job to remember. The balance lives on the card, not on a customer account, so a card can be given to anyone and redeemed by whoever holds its code.

Issuing is a money operation, and Storix treats it like one

Issuing a gift card creates purchasing power out of nothing, so it sits behind the operator money step-up confirmation: the admin confirms the issue with a second-factor dialog before the card goes live. Reactivating an old card requires the same step-up. That friction is deliberate — it is the same protection that guards refunds and payouts, and it means a leaked admin password cannot silently mint store credit.

Redemption at checkout

Shoppers redeem the card in the storefront checkout's gift card section: enter the code and the balance applies to the order, spending down the card for future use. Partial redemption is the normal case — a 500 EGP card against a 300 EGP order leaves 200 EGP sitting on the card until next time.

Running the programme

Track outstanding balances from the screen's list before reporting gift card liability to your accountant: every pound sitting on unspent cards is money you owe in products. Seasonally, gift cards are strongest around holidays — pair a gift card push with your Ramadan or Mother's Day campaigns.
