Packaging profiles: reusable box sizes and weights

Save your standard cartons once — name, weight and dimensions — and pick them at shipment creation. Shipping → Packaging Profiles, coming soon in the pilot.

Operations

Every shipment asks the same question: which box, and how heavy? Answering it from memory invites the two classic mistakes — under-declaring weight and eating the courier's difference charge, or over-declaring and making your own shipping look expensive at checkout. The Packaging Profiles screen under Shipping («مقاسات كراتين وطرود الشحن») is Storix's answer, and it is marked coming soon in the pilot sidebar.

A packaging profile is a named, reusable parcel definition: a name your team recognises (in English and Arabic), the weight of the empty packaging in grams, its length, width and height in centimetres, and optionally the flag marking it your default. Define the box sizes and weights of the four or five cartons you actually ship with — the shoe box, the shirt mailer, the double-box for fragile sets — once, and stop typing dimensions forever.

Where the profiles get used

When the screen opens, shipment creation picks from your profiles instead of asking for raw numbers each time: choose "Shirt mailer", and the weight and dimensions attach to the shipment in one click. The default profile is pre-selected, so the common case is zero clicks. Beyond speed, profiles make declarations consistent — and consistent declarations are what keep your courier invoices predictable and your customers' delivery fees honest at checkout.

How to prepare while it is coming soon

Measure your real cartons now: weigh each empty box on the kitchen scale if you must, and note the internal dimensions that matter for what fits. Keep packaging weight honest — tape and filler count. When the badge drops from the sidebar, you will seed your profiles in ten minutes and every shipment after that inherits them.

One caution for the day it opens: resist creating a profile for every odd box in the storeroom. Five profiles that match your five real shipping cases beat twenty that nobody can tell apart; if a profile's name needs explaining, it is really two profiles or none.
